Saturday mentorship program
Girls of Color Tech Saturdays™
Providing opportunity for young girls to enter and leave their mark in the tech industry space.
Women of color are underrepresented in tech. The problem starts in childhood where girls of color may not feel they can successfully compete in science, technology, engineering, and math, also known as STEM. The truth is, you can’t be what you don’t see! Black and brown girls recognize that faces which look like theirs are very limited in the tech industry. Unconscious gender bias and racial stereotyping in classrooms are reasons why girls of color may not pursue technology. This reality is troubling.
I want to encourage girls of color to pursue careers in tech. I will share my two decades of experience in tech and invite my friends, other women of color in tech, to share their experiences. Together, we will mentor, encourage, and guide girls of color who want to pursue tech but may not know what area to focus and have questions.
